|Dan's of Big Lake makes a name for itself with commitment to customers.
Selling cars has always been something Dan Minor, owner of Dan's of Big Lake has done with his family. "I grew up in the car business, " Dan said. "when I opened my own dealership I took what experience I had and added my own touch to make it unique."
Dan and his wife, Stacy, own the business; Dan does whatever needs to be done from selling to detailing the vehicles. Stacy handles the paper work and the financial side of the business. Their sons, Jacob and Luke, work with them as well, cleaning vehicles and helping with the detailing and basic maintenance work. Jacob graduated from high school this past year and has begun selling along side Dan as well.
"I always wanted to do my own thing," Dan said, "and I was fortunate enough to have a wife that was supportive in opening a dealership. "That's what has made it work. I do the buying and selling, and she handles the paperwork and the loan processing.
Outside of the for family members, the business has two other employees. Dean Waite joined the team in 2005. Dean is a long time friend of the family. Dan and Dean worked together prior to Dan starting his business, and always have shared a love of cars, the old classics as well as the late models. Dean has been in the car business for 18 years, starting as a young teen selling parts at the local auto parts store than becoming a service writer in a new franchise dealership to selling cars with Dan since 1997. Dean serves as sales manager at Dan's of Big Lake.
Their inventory consists of late model vehicles most with the remaining factory warranty. Dan's of Big Lake takes pride in their vehicles and their exceptional customer service. They have an experienced part time certified mechanic that inspects each of their vehicles before they are sold. Dan's make every effort to make sure the customers are completely satisfied with their purchase. Dan's of Big Lake has a laid back approach to sales, they don't believe in making the customer feel pressured into buying. "We believe our vehicles sell themselves, we don't need to have our customers feel uncomfortable or strong armed into decisions," Dan said.
The pride that Dan and Stacy take in their customer service and the effort they put into maintaining the business' reputation all go toward a family legacy. "Eventually we want to pass this on to our boys, so we want them to know how customers are to be treated," Stacy said. I'm hoping that my kids are going to take the business over some day, and teaching them ethical and moral business practices, along with authenticity, caring and friendliness to the customers is important," Dan said.
"Dan's of Big Lake began in September of 2000 and the team we have is like a fine tuned machine,"Dan said. Through these years, the team at Dan's have worked hard to establish themselves in the community and have developed a top-notch reputation. "Used car dealers get a bad rap, but we prove that we are different," Stacy said.
The vehicles on their lot are much newer than the average used-car fare. They also work with the local banks to get the best rate available for their customers.
